The UK’s top retailers will increasingly turn to online recruitment duringthe next year to help fill 100,000 new jobs in the sector. The annual Retail Trends Survey reveals that more than 90 per cent of theUK’s top 50 retailers plan to use the internet to help recruit staff over thenext 12 months to fill the growing number of job vacancies and combatincreasing staff turnover. The study finds that staff turnover has reached its highest levels ever at65 per cent among shopfloor workers, 27 per cent at store manager level and 15per cent at head office. It shows that retailers are increasingly looking to the internet astraditional recruitment tactics fail to deliver the required number ofcandidates. Peter Burgess of recruitment firm Retail Human Resources, which carried outthe research, said a combination of wage inflation, recruitment blackspots andincreased competition with the public sector was leading retailers to the web. The researched companies identified the South East, the home counties andLondon as the hardest areas to recruit. Almost a third of respondents predictedit would be more difficult to recruit staff this year. Mike Cutt, HR director at B&Q, said recruitment methods were changingbecause of high growth, low unemployment and a more customer-oriented publicsector. “We create around 1,000 management jobs a year and are growing at 15per cent. We have switched all management recruitment online. As a sector, itis getting harder because we are all fishing from the same pond,” he said.By Ross Wigham Related posts:No related photos.
NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger last night wrote House and Senate leaders to correct the inaccuracies being peddled by banking trades to thwart NCUA’s effort to update and modernize its field-of-membership rules. The American Bankers Association and Independent Community Bankers of America are painting NCUA’s proposed FOM rule as a back-door effort by NCUA to violate Federal Credit Union Act limits. They are making this assertion in hopes of keeping the rules as stringent as possible to limit consumers’ access to credit unions and minimize competition faced by banks. In last night’s letter, Berger said NAFCU members believe the federal charter “must keep pace with changes in state laws, technology and the progressiveness of the financial services industry.” He added, “NCUA is well within its statutory authority in this effort to streamline its chartering and FOM procedures, as well as removing non-statutory constraints on FOM chartering and expansion.”Berger corrects the assertions made by the banking trades, emphasizing that the proposed rule goes no farther than what is permitted by current law. He also suggests that if the banking trades had been this focused on their own members’ activities prior to the financial downturn, banks may have avoided TARP and the “over $100 billion in fines, settlements and buy-backs” for their misdeeds. continue reading » 5SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr

Louisville will leave for the ACC after the upcoming season and Rutgers will leave for the Big Ten at the same time.AdvertisementThis is placeholder text“This decision makes sense for the BIG EAST,” Aresco in the release. “In view of Notre Dame’s expressed desire to join the ACC on an earlier timetable, the BIG EAST and Notre Dame were able to arrive at an acceptable resolution. The BIG EAST can now focus fully on its future alignment and rebranding efforts.” Comments
