Stay on target James Gunn Once Again Directing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’Dark Phoenix Trailer Released & More Marvel Movie News There is a TV show or movie for a million different comic characters right now. We got Cloak and Dagger this summer! We are living in a really great time to be a comic fan or honestly a fan of really compelling storytelling. It’s an absolute feast out there for graphic novel enthusiasts with the release of Infinity War.If you had told me as a kid I’d see Rocket Raccoon in a movie I would’ve lost my mind. Heck, if you had told me in college I’d see Bucky Barnes in a bunch of these movies I’d downright have you committed. The following is a list of characters I’d love to see in the live-action worlds their respective publishers have developed. Some of them have existed as animated versions, but these are the one that deserve real life breathed into them.ChantLet’s kick this list off with a lesser known Peter Parker girlfriend, Sophia Sanduval aka Chant. She also gets a nod for being created by one of my favorite writers, Paul Tobin. Look, I know everyone and their mom ships him with Mary Jane/Gwen Stacy and that’s cool and all. But what if he could have a partner who knew him in all his escapades. Not only does Chant get Spidey, she’s got power too. Yea, possibly the coolest power, well by my standards anyway. She can talk to animals! So how amazing would it be if she could be intel for Peter? Because who knows more about the city than the rats, pigeons, and roaches. She talks to them, tells our webby boy, and he saves the day. You can seamlessly slide her into the Sony/MCU Spiderverse for Homecoming 2. Obviously, she’d be a biology/zoology wiz at Midtown School of Science and Technology. Call me Marvel. I’ve got the script half written.Roxanne SuttonBatman Adventures Annual Vol 1 (W: Paul Dini, A: Bruce Timm)Ok, some of these will have existed briefly in cartoon series often with very minimal roles. Ms. Sutton aka Roxy Rocket is one of them. I loved her in the animated Batman series as a kid. Pretty sure I had an action figure too. Now that Gotham is pretty established with four seasons why not bring in a character with a little levity? You could pair her with the Penguin like the old series, or you could let her mix it up with Selina Kyle since they both share talent in acrobatics. I’d rather see them as pals with low-level hijinks than adversaries like in the DC Animated Universe. Making Roxy a little younger within this world would be nice as well. We could get a real sense of how all that audacious spirit developed.Pizza Dog & Kate BishopHawkeye #6 (W: Kelly Thompson, A: Michael Walsh)Probably my most obvious choice for anyone who knows me. But how do we get the loyal, loving, and all wonderful fur-buddy of the Hawks into these worlds? This actually requires another entry, Kate Bishop. It keeps looking like our arrow shooting man Clint Barton is all but done in the MCU. Just stay retired! We know he’ll be around for Avengers 4 so what better time to ring in the next phase than with a new Hawkeye. Kate has an affinity for the old man but is also an awesome dog mom. It’s really her time to shine. We need more badass ladies in the Avengers proper. And sweet doggie sidekicks too.Alexandra CabotJosie and the Pussycats animated seriesThe flashy and sassy twin sister of Alexander Cabot (Josie and the Pussycats’ manager) would fit perfectly into the Riverdale universe. As she always poised herself as the brains of any and all operations, I’d actually make that true. Bring her in as a big wig music executive from the city. And in classic Alexandra fashion, she’d waste no time in pitting Josie and Archie against each other for a killer contract with her label. Plus it’d be pretty fantastic to see a modern version of her with the funky hair invade “quiet” Riverdale. Sebastian (her cat) can come too.*Yelena BelovaInhumans Vol. 2 #5 (W: Paul Jenkins, A: Jae Lee)If this Black Widow movie happens, dear Grodd I hope it does, let’s really get into the Widow program history. Agent Carter grazes it with Dottie Underwood, but I’d love to see Widow II make an appearance. If the Inhumans had any legs to continue I’d say throw her into that since she made her debut among them. But since that’s a lifeless canceled mess, I’m aiming my espionage heart and hopes a little higher. It’d be interesting to use her more as a comrade than an adversary. I really like the idea of them working beside each other than like when Natalia steals her identity…and her face. This is on here with an asterisk because it’s a possibility that our MCU Tash-Tash has already done this. She’s living as Yalena, blonde hair and all. Nothing has been confirmed. The Howling CommandosNick Fury’s Howling Commandos #1 (W: Keith Giffen, P: Eduardo Francisco, I: Kris Justice, Terry Pallot, Robert Campanella)“But Sheilah, we’ve already seen them in The First Avenger.” Right. But what if I told you there’s a whole other insane 2.0 version. I’m specifically talking about 2005’s Nick Fury’s Howling Commandos. What’s cool about this crew is that it’s basically of Universal Monsters rendition of S.H.E.I.L.D. Sprinkle one or two of the characters into one of the upcoming films. Clay Quartermain would be a nice option as the defacto leader. And I think it should be Agent Ross’ Howling Commandos. It’s his time to be one of these real handler types like Fury and Colson. And hey, if you can have a giant purple jerk destroying the universe why can’t we have a half-vampire half-werewolf on the big screen too!? Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
