The issue of a Dalit groom being barred from riding a horse during his wedding procession rocked the Haryana Assembly which saw heated exchanges on Tuesday with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar saying a minister has been rushed to the village to ease tensions. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Congress leader and former Speaker Kuldeep Sharma said members of the Dalit community from Sagga village have been forced to leave their homes and were now sitting on protest in Karnal. Heated exchanges ensued as Health Minister Anil Vij attacked the Congress, saying it has no moral standing to raise the issue.
In high heels, dark glasses and heavy make-up, Robina Jalali looks more like a celebrity looking for a photo-op as she talks to eager youth and frowning men.Afghanistan’s former Olympian Robina Jalali. But stretch your memory and you will remember the glamourous 25-year-old as the sprinter who was hailed as a hero during the Beijing Olympics, despite finishing last. She was the only Afghan woman athlete to participate in the events and hogged limelight for running in track pants and a headscarf.Jalali is running again, this time for the parliamentary elections on September 18.She is one of the 406 female candidates contesting for the 64 seats reserved for women in the 249-member lower house, Wolesi Jirga. And she has again dared to be different. Unlike others who are covered up in the traditional burqa and robes, Jalali campaigns in trousers and designer kurtas with her head covered with a colourful stole.Perhaps this is the reason she is facing criticism from some quarters as being a non-serious candidate who is just using the women’s quota to enter politics.”If you want to run for modelling, you need a pretty face and a wonderful body. But for parliament, the criteria are different,” a leading woman parliamentarian took a jibe clearly aimed at Jalali. Jalali is not bothered by criticism. After all, she has faced it earlier. The international media may have hailed her courage when she participated in the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and earlier in Athens in 2004, but back home she got little support or encouragement.advertisement”I was the only girl running with men…,” she said. “I did not have popular support. People spoke ill of me going on trips.” People’s disapproval didn’t matter. What was worrying was the threat from the Taliban.”When I started in the sports world, I got threatening leaflets from the Taliban thrown at my house,” Jalali said. But that did not stop her from pursuing her dreams then. And they have failed to deter her now. Like other candidates, particularly women, she is also facing intimidation from the Taliban who have threatened to target anyone associated with the polls. But being a woman in Afghanistan, fear is something Jalali has lived with. She says she doesn’t care about the Taliban and is not going to run away.To her critics who question her suitability for the political office she is aiming for, Jalali cites her experience with her father’s non-profit organisation and her stint with the Kabul Bank as a secretary for three years. She is one of the nine women tipped to win a seat among the 90 running in Kabul. And if she wins, she has her priorities clear-to focus on equal rights for women. To achieve her goal, she has broken yet another tradition. She remains single in a country where most women are married off as teenagers because marriage and husband could come in the way of pursuing politics. But it remains to be seen how much success Jalali gets in her mission at a time when the Afghan government is seeking reconciliation with the Taliban.

[I got a] nice assist, but usually when I pass to Romelu, he scores, so it’s not that difficult to get an assist sometimes. It was a good performance by the team, but we can all do better.”Hazard walked through the mixed zone with his left leg strapped after receiving some physical treatment from debutants Panama. The 27-year-old attacker was targeted by Panama throughout the first half, the Belgian superstar noticeably hobbling after a robust challenge.Hazard, unperturbed, emerged from the interval and helped inspire Belgium following a frustrating and scoreless opening period, Panama’s stubborn resistance broken by Dries Mertens’ stunning volley at the start of the second half.”We knew it would be physical. People were saying that Belgium would win every game easily but it’s not like this. They have good players, strong players, they play to their strengths, and that’s why we had some little problems in the first half. But at the end of the game, we won 3-0, so we have to be happy,” Hazard continued.”I think they gave everything. When the ball was between a Panama and Belgium player, the Panama player won the duel. In this type of game, you need to be stronger than the team in front of you and we were in the second half.”We spoke at half-time and said that we need to keep playing. The pitch was a little bit slow, so it wasn’t easy to find other players or play the ball quickly. But we kept trying and we scored some goals in the end.”

With the release of its new genuine deerskin gloves with ultra-soft poly liners, it’s now one of our favorite winter accessory brands to reach for. Made from traditionally resilient ragg wool that is washed and dried before being worked on, the gloves (and beanies) are as perfectly constructed and they are handsome. Other fine details easily missed include hand-tacked labels and ethically harvested deerskin attached by antique Singer post sewing machines.“There was a definite hole in the knit accessories market,” explains founder-menswear brand manager veteran Bram Robinson on the idea of a premium quality knits lifestyle brand. But, as Robinson suggests, it was the added goal of preserving the tradition of American craftsmanship that made a simple pair of knit gloves that much more. (Robinson’s gloves, for example, are made by a family-owned factory that has been knitting accessories since 1946 for the likes of the military and the NYPD.)Now in response to demand for other product categories, Upstate Stock has added Kings of Brooklyn in Greenpoint for candles and several grooming products to its small but growing collective of partner-makers. Canadian-made leather belts and cotton flannels are also underway. Says Robinson, “the brand will always be 90% gloves and hats, but we plan on more as we find good partners in and out of New York.” We can hardly wait.

A camera, called the Cleanup Cam, mounted on a utility pole atthe compound used by vehicles entering and leaving the site, continuously scans the grounds of the Coke Ovens. It takes abouta minute to do a complete sweep of the site in each direction. “When workers begin re-routing Coke Ovens Brook this summer, wewant people to be able to watch the work for themselves,” saidFrank Potter, director of operations for the agency. “It’s yet another illustration of our commitment to carry out thecleanup with exemplary candour and openness.” Internet users can access the Cleanup Cam by going towww.TarPondsCleanup.ca and clicking on the Cleanup Cam icon atthe bottom left of the page. Rabat – Over the past 5 years, Morocco produced 2 million tons of citrus on an area of over 125,000 hectares.Citrus plays an important role in Morocco’s economy as an essential source of foreign currency. With an estimated value of MAD 3 billion per year, Morocco’s citrus exports from citrus has reached 500,000 tons annually.Morocco exports 80 percent of its citrus to Russia and the European Union. The remaining 20 percent is exported to North America and the Middle East. Over the past decade, Morocco’s citrus sector grew significantly with the introduction of new berry varieties. As a result, the citrus supply dedicated for export diversified widely and production and marketing periods became more widespread.A wide range of varieties characterize national citrus orchards; however three groups of varieties dominate: clementines at 35 percent, Maroc-late at 21 percent, and navels at 18 percent. The main regions of citrus cultivation in Morocco are Souss Massa in the south, Gharb in the northwest, Moulouya in the Middle Atlas, Tadla in central Morocco, and El Haouz near Marrakech.Citrus production has been improving since the launch of Morocco’s Green Plan in April 2008. The plan improved the efficiency of domestic markets, the socio-economic impacts of investments directed to small farmers, agricultural services, the management of irrigation, and the planning of irrigation projects.
“Hope is beginning to supplant despair after more than 1,000 days of violence and 3,500 dead,” Terje Roed-Larsen, Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, said at an open briefing to the 15-member body. “Israel and Palestinians are meeting regularly and working together at all levels,” he added in reference to the newly launched Road Map peace plan. The plan, sponsored by the so-called diplomatic Quartet of the UN, United States, European Union and Russian Federation, calls for Israel and the Palestinians to take a series of parallel and reciprocal steps culminating in the achievement of two states living side by side in peace by 2005.”I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize the pressing need to create and build momentum,” Mr. Roed-Larsen said. “Both sides need to take steps to build trust and confidence. Each needs to demonstrate to the other that progress brings real and tangible benefits. Each needs to strengthen the capacity of the other to move forward through bold and courageous steps.”The Palestinian Authority has a specific duty to assume security responsibility since “terrorist attacks are damaging” to the peace process, he added. “We hope that the ceasefire between (Palestinian militant groups) will lead to the disarming by the Palestinian Authority of all armed groups so that … weapons are only held by members of the Palestinian security services,” he said.Turning to Israel he declared: “We would strongly urge the government of Israel to do more in terms of prisoner releases and in easing the daily living conditions of the Palestinians. I can think of few actions that would do more to build real trust and confidence. Prisoner releases in Northern Ireland set an encouraging precedent in this respect.”He also called on Israel to continue its withdrawals from occupied territory, to continue to refrain from targeted assassinations, to remove settlement outposts and prevent the erection of new ones, and to halt construction of a physical separation wall between the two peoples. “Its construction is a unilateral act not in keeping with the Road Map because it makes more difficult the creation of a viable contiguous Palestinian state,” he said.”Let me be clear where we stand,” he added. “The Government of Israel should further ease and eventually lift the closure regime in the West Bank as a follow up to the steps it has taken in the Gaza Strip. The peace process will only seem real to the Palestinians when they are able to move freely, go to work and school, seek medical care and attend to other aspects of normal life without confronting checkpoints and humiliating procedures.”The key to whether the Palestinians see the peace process as meaningful lies largely in the hands of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, he said.Video of Security Council meeting
The price of oil fell slightly Monday after strong jobs growth in the U.S. sparked speculation of an earlier end to the Federal Reserve’s loose monetary policy.By early afternoon in Europe, the benchmark oil contract for April delivery was down 11 cents to $91.84 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose 39 cents on Friday after the U.S. government said employers added 236,000 jobs in February, far exceeding predictions. The unemployment rate fell to 7.7 per cent from 7.9 per cent. While the improved jobs picture bodes well for growth, analysts said it could also signal an earlier end to the Fed’s bond-buying program, dubbed quantitative easing, which has been instrumental in propping up the U.S. economy since the 2008 global financial crisis.Caroline Bain, commodities analyst at Economist Intelligence Unit, said that if U.S. economic data continues to be strong, investors might anticipate that quantitative easing would be wound down “sooner rather than later and this would be negative for oil prices as it suggests lower investor inflows.”The Fed’s policy of keeping interest rates near record lows and pumping new money into the economy is meant to boost lending and investment. But it also serves to draw money away from bonds and into stocks and commodities.Recent gains by the dollar against the Japanese yen and the euro also put pressure on oil prices. A stronger dollar makes oil a less enticing investment for traders using those other currencies, since oil is traded in dollars.“Rather than benefiting like the equity markets from the positive U.S. labour market data and the resulting rosier demand prospects in the world’s largest oil consumer, oil prices are under pressure from a firmer U.S. dollar and speculation about a premature end to the Fed’s bond purchasing program,” said a report from Commerzbank in Frankfurt.Brent crude, used to price many kinds of oil imported by U.S. refineries, was down 52 cents to $110.33 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange in London. In other energy futures trading on the Nymex:— Wholesale gasoline added 3.85 cents to $3.242 a gallon.— Heating oil gained 0.26 cent to $2.9775 a gallon.— Natural gas lost 0.9 cent to $3.62 per 1,000 cubic feet.___(TSX:ECA, TSX:IMO, TSX:SU, TSX:HSE, NYSE:BP, NYSE:COP, NYSE:XOM, NYSE:CVX, TSX:CNQ, TSX:TLM, TSX:COS.UN, TSX:CVE) AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to RedditRedditShare to 電子郵件Email by Pablo Gorondi, The Associated Press Posted Mar 11, 2013 10:02 am MDT Oil price dips as strong US jobs growth suggests earlier end to Fed’s loose policy
“I can see that health and safety could provide a legitimate justification in specific instances, but as a point of general application I am very cautious. “Indeed, it seems to me that a blanket ban such as this potentially has the opposite effect – take for example a situation where a member of staff is seeking to understand instructions given to them in English, where English is not their first language, by confirming his/her understanding in his/her native language with a colleague. It is not just the speaking, but also the reception, of English that is at issue here.”Nick Wilcox, a senior associate at Brahams Dutt Badrick French LLP, said that any large scale action could prove costly for the company as claims for discrimination are not capped in the way that those for unfair dismissal are. A worker can make a discrimination claim from the moment that they are engaged in the interview process. Sports Direct has admitted it was behind a notice which appeared in its Bangor store and ordered staff to speak only English at workCredit: Daily Post Wales They said it was “not intended to restrict the use of the Welsh language” and they would review the wording, although they did not respond to a request to clarify whether the amendments would apply across the UK. It is the latest in a long line of criticism over the Sports Direct’s working practices, including staff being paid below the minimum wage and searching its staff as they leave the warehouses. A report by the Business, Innovation and Skills committee found last year that the employees were “as commodities rather than as human beings”. Sports Direct may face a flood of legal claims after banning staff from speaking to each other in any language except English, experts said. The company told all its UK staff that for “health and safety” reasons workers should not speak in any foreign tongue even when having private conversations. The notice read: “English is the official language of the company and should be used at all times when carrying out company business, unless otherwise specified.”It has come to our attention that some members of staff are speaking in languages other than English whilst carrying out their duties.”We would like to take this opportunity to remind staff that they must speak in English at all times when they are at work, in order that they can be understood by all members of staff; this includes any personal conversations that may be taking place during work time.It claims that speaking any other language poses a variety of “risks” to the company, including “health and safety issues”. A spokesman for the company apologised for any “misunderstanding and upset caused”. They said in a statement: “Sports Direct issued a notice to all stores in the UK on our language policy. It was intended to ensure that all staff, who attended briefings on health and safety and other important issues, fully understood the content of these communications. English is the most common language used by our multi lingual staff, and therefore, the most likely to be understood by all. Employment law experts last night warned that it could see them facing a raft of claims for indirect discrimination. The dictat first emerged in a store in Bangor, where workers pointed out that it effectively banned them communicating in their own language in their own country. The Welsh Language Commissioner has launched an investigation into the policy, which was described by critics as “discriminatory and offensive”.Sport’s Direct, which originally said it was not an official directive, later admitted that it was notice that had been issued to all stores in the UK. The Equality and Human Rights Commission said that there must be a “clear business reason” and the “requirement needs to be proportionate” if a company orders workers to communicate in a certain language. The company, which employs more than 18,000 people, could face a raft of employment tribunal claims in the wake of the instruction. David Hodge, Principal Lawyer at Slater and Gordon, said: “As I understand it, Sports Direct is seeking to apply a blanket policy to all staff, but it would seem reasonable to assume that this policy will adversely impact those who are not native English speakers. “This potentially gives rise to a claim of indirect race discrimination and the question then turns to whether there is objective justification for that policy. North American Nickel Inc recently announced that it has received the Hydropower Feasibility Assessment Study within watershed 06.H located on the eastern flank of the company’s 100% owned Maniitsoq nickel sulphide project in southwest Greenland. Hydropower is the preferred method for the environmentally-sensitive generation of electricity for the operation of any new mining venture including mine, mill, camp site and harbour facility in Greenland. The feasibility report was prepared by EFLA Consulting Engineers and includes technical, environmental and socio-economic studies and the documentation of physical and economical aspects of hydropower development. The report examined local topography and provides an assessment of the development’s viability, identified key areas of risk and suggests mitigation actions, to determine the economic viability of hydropower development at watershed 0.6H. EFLA was retained based on its extensive knowledge of hydropower feasibility assessments, hydropower development work and applied knowledge in the field. EFLA has extensive skill sets in design and consultancy of transmission lines, roads and bridges, as well as of other infrastructural disciplines in Arctic conditions that are or may be relevant.A watershed prospecting licence was awarded by the Ministry of Industry, Labour, Trade and Energy of the Greenland Government subsequent to a review of the companies prospecting plan. It provides the exclusive right to assess and develop potential hydropower resources for the production of electricity. The licence is in force for two years with the option to extend it for an additional three years. An exploitation licence can be awarded following a successful assessment of the watershed. The feasibility analysis of hydropower within watershed 06.H identifies two subordinate watersheds 7038-001 F03 and 7038-001 F04 with the capacity to supply a 12 MW base load and an 18 MW maximum load and generate 96 GWh per annum for the Maniitsoq Project. The two watersheds included in this assessment have the capacity to supply the required hydroelectricity at an installed cost of $5.621 USD/kW and $5.049 USD/kW respectively at a CAPEX of between $101.2 and $90.9 million respectively. Operating expenses are 1-2% of CAPEX. Both watersheds encapsulate or are close to priority nickel sulphide mineralised zones and the Seqi Port.NAN CEO, Keith Morrison, commented: “Providing a long term, low cost, environmentally sensitive power solution is a critical step in demonstrating the NiS camp potential of the Maniitsoq project. The EFLA report will form the basis of NAN’s discussions with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Labour, and Energy and Nukissiorfilt (the Greenland National Energy Company)”.North American Nickel is a mineral exploration company with 100% owned properties in Maniitsoq, Greenland and Sudbury, Ontario. The Maniitsoq property in Greenland is a camp scale project comprising 2,985 square km covering numerous high-grade nickel-copper sulphide occurrences associated with norite and other mafic-ultramafic intrusions of the Greenland Norite Belt (GNB). The >75 km-long belt is situated along, and near, the southwest coast of Greenland accessible from the existing Seqi deep water port with an all year round shipping season and abundant hydro-electric potential. The Post Creek/Halcyon property in Sudbury is strategically located adjacent to the past producing Podolsky copper-nickel-platinum group metal deposit of KGHM International Ltd. The property lies along the extension of the Whistle Offset dyke structure. Such geological structures host major Ni-Cu-PGM deposits and producing mines within the Sudbury Camp.
TOP 10 starts in handball season Handball-Planet.com presents TOP 10 starts to a season 2011/2012:1.BM ATLETICO MADRIDMore than 12.000 people in „Vistalegra“ open a new page in the history of Atletico Madrid handball section and team coached by Talant Duyshebaev gave them a spectacular win against the biggest rival, F.C Barcelona in Super Cup. From that match, Atletico celebrated all 10 wins in ASOBAL and has only one draw and four wins in the five matches of the EHF Champions League. Madrid is ready for the big challenges, fight for the EHF F4 and Champions title in Spain…2.THW KIEL„Zebras“ weren’t so good against Partizan 36:28 in the last match in the Champions League, but that is a feature of big teams – If they play bad, they still can win. And they do that in the Bundesliga, where THW has fantastic 13 wins in a row. In the Champions League, only one mistake against Montpellier, tough away match and the draw in Leon, but Kiel still has chance to win the group.3. F.C BARCELONABarcelona is always the favorite in the Handball World. Current EHF Champions League and ASOBAL winner, after fantastic season is again serious contender for all of that. Barca lost Super Cup against Madrid, but has the same score in the ASOBAL, 10 from 10 and in the EHF Champions League, the best score after five matches, 5 wins in the group, where away match in Zagreb was probably to worst possible experience…4. HC METALURGSurprise, surprise, but after two years of reconstruction, big work and a lot of problems, Lino Cervar made in Skoplje the TEAM. That team is currently second in the EHF CL Group C and has very good chances to stay there until TOP 16 phase. Stabil financial situation, good Management, 6000 people in the Hall at the last match against Constanta are fantastic base for Cervar’s future work. Metalurg is one of the leader in a new formed SEHA League, with no defeats, only draw against two Croatian teams, C.O Zagreb and Nexe5. AG COPENHAGENSuper Team from Copenhagen is now ready to show TOP handball to Europe. In Denmark, 10-1-1, in the Champions League three wins and last defeat in Leon. That is quite good result for the team on his debut in the European Elite. Tough Group in the EHF CL is the real challenge for the Danish team, but place in TOP 16 is secure. How far they can go is early to predict…6. PICK SZEGEDMaybe they aren’t to strong, in the Group with Kiel, Copenhagen, Leon and Montpellier, they aren’t for sure, but guys from Pick Szeged are fighting like a Lions. Pick Szeged beats Montpellier three days ago and showed that despite modest squad all the favorites can be beaten in Hungary as MKB Veszprem in Hungarian Championship, where Pick got a derby after almost four years…7. C.O ZAGREBIvica Obrvan is a good coach, definitely. His hand in the playing style of C.O Zagreb giving results at the start of the season. Only two draws in the SEHA League and only one defeat in the EHF Champions League with one goal difference against F.C Barcelona we can call „Good Job“. Stronger competition in SEHA gives a lot of positive things to C.O Zagreb, one of the League’s lobbyist. With Balic and Spiler artistic knowledge and some younger forces, C.O Zagreb maybe can reach TOP 8 and that will be fantastic result…8. MONTPELLIERWhat to say about the French Champion. Montpellier conquered Kiel and then lost points in Szeged. “Warm-Cold” games for their fans. With Karabatic and Co, and we have to mention, a “new gladiator”, Accambray, Montpellier is always contender for the F4. In French League, easy, 9 from 9…9. HC PARTIZANFirstly, Partizan surprised Tatran and Porto at the Qualification Tournament and brought back EHF Champions League to handball nation, Serbia, after three long years in a season, when Serbia will be host of the EHF EURO 2012. Second, Belgrade’s team playing solid in the matches against the teams with five or ten time bigger budget. „Black-White“ led in Kiel at the half-time 18:17. In domestic Champioship, Partizan has „9 from 9“10. KADETTEN SCHAFFHAUSENSwiss Champion is the real Champion. Nobody can beat Kadetten in Switzerland and prove for that is score „11 from 11“ after the first part of the season. In the Champions League, situation is quite different. Kadetten struggling for the place at the TOP 16 and matches with Savehof and Chambery will show, where Swiss champion is… ← Previous Story Copenhagen’s owner, Jesper Kasi Nielsen: “AG as the best Danish Sports Product of All Time” Next Story → Anders Eggert scored 18 goals against Gummersbach!

Legends of Tomorrow capped off a spectacular second season with a fun, fantastic battle for the Spear of Destiny. The show really went all in on this one too. Every episode that didn’t use its historical setting to its fullest, every effect that looked a little cheap, those all make sense now. Clearly, they were saving their budget for this finale. The episode began on Doomworld, where the remaining Legends have figured out a way to undo the damage to reality. But first, they need to find Rip and the Waverider. It turns out the Waverider has been miniaturized and is now a toy on a desk in S.T.A.R. Labs. Now that Rip and Gideon have gotten it running again, he hones in on the signal the Legends are sending out and flies into Nate’s mom’s basement. After a bit of fun where Rory can’t resist grabbing the tiny ship out of the air, the team figures out that the miniaturization must have been caused by Ray’s Atom suit. Which means it must still exist somewhere. The team breaks into S.T.A.R. Labs, fight some random henchmen and find the suit. After Ray gets a little weird with his tech, he and Jax are momentarily held up by Damien Darhk and his magic. Fortunately, Rory gets the drop on him, knocking him out with a satisfying heatgun-whip.The Waverider is restored to its normal size (while still inside S.T.A.R. Labs), and it’s back to World War I we go. Rip isn’t happy about the plan, but as there is no other choice, he warns the team that under no circumstances are they to meet their past selves. Guess how long that lasts. The plan seems simple enough at first. Get the blood of Christ from No Man’s Land, plant it where their past selves will find it sooner and the spear will be destroyed. The current Legends will all be erased from existence as a result, but that’s what it takes to fix reality. The plan immediately goes wrong when Eobard Thawne from Doomworld shows up. He caught on to the Legends’ plan and followed them back in time. As soon as Ray finds the vial of Christ’s blood, he takes it and crushes it. Then, he rips out Ray’s heart.Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk and Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave (Photo: Dean Buscher/The CW)Yeah, the Legends die horribly in this episode. Since there are two of each in this time period (except for Martin and Amaya), the show is not shy about murdering the whole team. This is like the 1986 Transformers movie all over again. At least they’re replaced by other versions of themselves. No Rodimus Primes in this show. While there being two of each character does lower the stakes of them dying a bit, seeing these characters we’ve grown to love brutally murdered is still shocking enough on its own. It also leaves open the possibility of one of the past Legends dying permanently. Besides, we’ve already seen the consequences of letting the Legion of Doom get the Spear. The stakes are high enough as it is.With no blood to destroy the Spear, the only solution is for Rip, Nate and Rory to steal the Spear from the Waverider of the past. It has to be them because they are the ones not currently aboard the ship. After awkwardly dealing with their past teammates, they split up to look for the spear. Rory finds it easily, but Nate is distracted when he sees Amaya. He spends so long getting one last look at her that the past Legends are on their way back to the ship. We get a fun fight scene where the Legends fight their own teammates, and everyone has to go back to the ship. The plan is explained, and after some arguing, both teams agree that they need to get out of World War I with the Spear as fast as possible. Meanwhile, Nate tries to convince his past self to tell Amaya how he really feels. The escape plan is foiled by Thawne, who has brought Malcolm Merlyn, Darhk, and Leonard Snart back to World War I with him. They four men fire at the Waverider as it tries to escape. To make matters worse, the team interacting with their past selves has caused time storms to occur whenever the Waverider tries to travel. One storm knocks the ship back down to Earth, and the Legends are forced to fight the Legion of Doom for the Spear. The plan is for the Doomworld Legends to fight and the Past Legends to make a run for the Future Waverider. It doesn’t work out quite the way they plan.Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary (Photo: Bettina Strauss/The CW)It all leads to a big climactic battle sequence that turns out to be the best the series has had so far. Doomworld Jax takes an arrow in the chest, which allows Past Jax to take one from Merlyn’s quiver and stab him. The battle is filled with great character moments as well as fun fights. Rory finally chooses the team over allying with Snart. Sara resists the temptation to kill Darhk and avenges her sister. Doomworld Nate is killed, using his last breath to tell his past self not to be a douche. Best last words I can think of.In the end, Sara and her team hold the spear. Thawne brings a whole team of Reverse Flashes from throughout time, who pick off the remaining Legends one by one. Sara is forced to use the spear herself. There’s a sweet cameo from Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance. She and Sara sit on the couch, drinking wine. It’s the life Sara could make for herself now if she wanted. In the end, she rejects it, and Thawne grabs the spear from her, mocking her for hesitating. But it turns out she made one minor change. The Spear now has no power. Thawne can’t create Doomworld, and the Doomworld Legends disappear. Oh, and Black Flash has caught up to him. We see one of the season’s better special effects as Black Flash erases him from existence. As the episode ends, Nate and Amaya decide they want to stay together on the Waverider, no matter what Amaya’s fate is supposed to be. Rip realizes that the team doesn’t need him anymore and leaves for good. That might be for the best. It was nice having Rip back for the last few episodes, but the show found its voice without him. The second season has been better with Sara taking the lead. The Legends take off for a nice vacation in (at Rory’s request) Aruba. Unfortunately, time is still all sorts of messed up. They hit a time storm and crash land (through a building) into a strange version of Los Angeles. Where there are dinosaurs roaming around. In 2017. Sarah sums up the situation perfectly. “Guys, I think we broke time.”Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave and Nick Zano as Nate Heywood (Photo: Dean Buscher/The CW)I try not to overuse the word “epic,” but the Legends of Tomorrow season finale really felt that way. It capitalized on everything the season had built up. All those character moments meant something. By the end of this episode, you got the sense that they had truly grown into different people than they were at the start. That big battle scene towards the end was the perfect way to close out the season. It was the most exciting sequence the show has had so far. Seeing so many characters die, even if it wasn’t permanent, raised the stakes of the battle, making the moment to moment confrontations matter. And that ending… I desperately want to know what’s going on in that version of Los Angeles. I only wish we didn’t have to wait until next fall to find out.
